Club Racing
Hi guys, We're trying to reinvigorate "Club Racing" at CYC. As a part of that effort we're working with the Clayton Antique Boat Museum and building a fleet of one-design dhingys. I'd be excited to hear of anything you've done at your clubs to get younger, or New to Sailing types interested in racing. -Frodo

gettin gpeople interested
At GYC we had an article in the newspaper talking about sailing and we organized a new sailor night. Invited anyone who was interested in sailing to join us for one of our "Fun" races. First year had about 60 interested people, many of which bought boats, joined the club or are regular crew on members boats. Then a couple of years later we did it again, and once again got another large group. with similar results. While there was a minor glitch with recording the names of the volunteers and keeping them in a central repository or crew pool. but that is an opportunity to make it better next time. John - Celtic Fire. hmm Cresent YC, Isnt there a C&C Mega 30 out of there? And I also believe in a previous life, Celtic Fire (C&C 29-1) was out of your club.

I would like a link on the GYC page, I sent a invite to Bob & it was in the RCR's la-*test*-('") newsletter. I wish I could go on Saturday but my wife is working in morning. However I am planning on a late haul & if you get the urge & wanna go sailing let me know.........

I will list Lake Ontario Racing on my web site
It's nice to see something started here and I hope it is a big hit. I know from personal experience that keeping a forum or bulletin board going depends on having people join in. It is not enough to just read a few posts and not respond. You have to participate to make it work. Starting this forum at the end of the racing season may be a good thing. Racers and cruisers alike are always looking to talk to others during the off season to trade new ideas and keep in touch while waiting for the next season. Although I do not race any more, I will check back frequently. Ken Palmer, S/V Water Colors, Rochester, NY

Ken GREAT to have you here! I would have no problem putting a cruising section up if you think that there is interest. I do just as much cruising as racing. Again glad you are here.
